CitySpaces supported the lead consultant (LANARC) in preparing the Nanaimo OCP, adopted by Council June 2022. CitySpaces’ role was to provide expertise on social policy and housing infrastructure. We researched and drafted objectives, policies, and targets for components of the OCP including: housing, community well-being, health and saftey, sense of belonging, equity and inclusion, food security, accessibility, heritage, childcare, and truth and reconciliation. Numerous working documents were prepared as part of this process, including researching precedent policy examples, reviewing/synthesizing and integrating recommendations and actions from other municipal reports, as well as drafting OCP objectives and policies. CitySpaces also participated in several collaborative working sessions with the consulting team and City of Nanaimo staff.
