CitySpaces acted as the consultants for the planning and urban design for the former Mount View School site - an eight-acre site, owned by the Capital Region Hospital District at 3806 -3816 Carey Road in Saanich, British Columbia. CitySpaces coordinated a comprehensive rezoning process for the site.
The site plan and subsequent development included a community park, "Campus of Care" comprising a residential care facility, independent living for seniors, plus supportive housing for formerly homeless adults, and affordable rental family town-housing and parcel for private sector office or housing development.
The development addresses three key regional priorities—a 'Campus of Care' for seniors, housing for the homeless, and affordable family housing.
The developments to date are:
- Mt. View Park: Gifted by the CRHD to Saanich for community use.
- Olympic Vista (3806 Carey Rd.): Affordable supportive housing for homeless or at risk seniors operated by Cool Aid society. This development involved the innovative reuse modular housing used in the 2010 Winter Olympic in Whistler.
- Vergo (3808 Carey Rd.): Affordable family townhouses owned and operated by the Capital Region Housing Corporation.
- Carey Place (3812 Carey Rd.): Affordable senior’s rental apartments owned by Baptist Housing Society and the CRD and operated by Baptist, with the land owned by the CRD.
- The Heights (3814 Carey Rd.): Senior’s residential care and dementia care owned and operated by Baptist Housing Society, with the land owned by the CRHD.
Following securing planning approvals CitySpaces acted as the project managers for the Olympic Vista and Vergo.
