Peachland Celebrates 73 New Rental Homes for Seniors

Peachland, BC — May 29, 2026 — The Peachland community gathered today to celebrate the grand opening of The Residences on 5th, a new affordable seniors housing development delivered by the Peachland Seniors’ Support Society in partnership with the District of Peachland, BC Housing, and CMHC.

Located at 4444 5th Street, The Residences on 5th is a five‑storey wood-frame building providing 73 rental homes for seniors, including 15 accessible units, with a mix of one- and two-bedroom layouts. The homes are offered at a range of affordability levels and designed to emphasize accessibility, comfort, community, and independent living.

The Residences on 5th is the second and final phase of a two‑phase housing community, building on the neighbouring Residences on 6th, completed in 2019. Together, the two buildings provide 147 homes that support residents to age in place within Peachland. A shared outdoor courtyard connects the two buildings, featuring community gardens, a bocce court, and outdoor lounge spaces.

CitySpaces supported the broader initiative as Development Consultant from its earliest stages, including working with the Peachland Seniors’ Support Society and the District of Peachland to master plan the two‑phase project, developing a site phasing plan based on assessed community need, and leading successful funding applications for both phases. Both phases were delivered under budget, with Phase 2 completing ahead of schedule.

“The project reflects a long-standing vision by the District of Peachland and Peachland Seniors’ Support Society to address the need for seniors housing,” said Spencer Andres, Director, CitySpaces. “Over many years, the initiative progressed through multiple stages of planning, funding approaches, and evolving partnerships, with the District and the Peachland Seniors’ Support Society continuing to advance the project until the right conditions and funding opportunities aligned to bring both phases forward.”

Designed by RLA Architects and constructed by VanMar Constructors, the project was made possible through funding from BC Housing, with the District of Peachland providing ongoing municipal support and collaboration.

The grand opening event brought together residents, community members, elected officials, design and construction teams, and project partners to mark the completion of the building and welcome new residents into their homes.
