It’s with enthusiasm that we join the efforts for Homelessness Action Week 2015! After a successful past few years, we are again loading up our boxes (and in some cases complete rooms). If you, or your organisation would like to join in, below are the details for both Victoria and Metro Vancouver.
Homelessness Action Week — Oct 11 to 17
Victoria:
Victoria’s Homelessness Action Week is organised by Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness, they are asking Greater Victorians to donate much needed winter items and everyday essentials.
Donations needed:
Most Needed Items:
- socks
- gloves & mittens
- toques and scarves
- razors
- toothbrushes, toothpaste & floss
- travel-sized hygiene products (shampoo, lotion, shaving cream, etc.)
- deodorant
- nail clippers & files
- underwear
Also Required:
- combs and small brushes
- lip balm
- Q-tips
- Non-scented baby wipes
- feminine hygiene products
- dog & cat food
- toilet paper
- band-aids
- baby powder
- non-perishable snacks (granola bars, juice boxes, etc.)
- USB flash drives
- pens, pencils, notepads

Metro Vancouver:
This year, CitySpaces Vancouver has decided to target our donations to the Bloom Group. Their greatest need being for Springhouse, an emergency shelter and 2nd stage transitional house for women and children. Springhouse is the only emergency shelter in Vancouver that accepts male children over the age of 12.
Springhouse’s Manager recommends the following donations:
- Toiletries
- Clothing and shoes for women
- Clothing, shoes and toys for kids of all ages
- Art supplies for kids
- Sports equipment for kids of all ages (i.e. basketball)
- Household items for women who are transitioning into 2nd stage housing (not too big/easy to store/move)
