Fraser Health Strategic Regional Planning

Location:
Surrey, BC

Client:
Fraser Health Authority

Project Overview

Fraser Health Authority is the largest health authority in British Columbia by population, serving approximately 2 million residents across 21 municipalities, from Boston Bar through the Fraser River Valley to Burnaby and Delta. With the region experiencing rapid population growth, Fraser Health engaged CitySpaces to provide urban planning expertise to help guide its long-term strategic investment plan for new health facilities.

CitySpaces supported this work by developing a comprehensive methodology and accompanying maps to assess the suitability of potential facility locations across the region’s diverse communities.

Key Highlights

CitySpaces team members conducted in-depth research, collecting data on land use, transit-oriented areas, demographics, population projections, and flood hazards across 21 communities. This information was used to develop an integrated assessment framework, which applied a set of weighted criteria to prioritize and synthesize the findings. Using GIS technology, the team produced a series of detailed maps to visualize the data geographically, enabling Fraser Health Authority to efficiently compare communities across the region, supporting informed decision-making for future planning and investment.
